Board of Directors Minutes
August 14, 2006

A regular meeting of your Board of Directors was held at the Resource Center on Monday, August 14, 2006. Present were Howard Berger, Charles Bovaird, Richard Corzo, Lisa Leifels, Jeff Setaro and Jamie Yates. President Setaro presided and Secretary Lisa Leifels kept the record. Minutes of the last meeting held on July 10, 2006 were approved.

Treasurer Charles Bovaird reported current cash assets of $11,255.31, consisting of total bank and postal accounts in the amount of $11,189.75 plus postage on hand of $65.56. Subtracting a liability of prepaid dues in the amount of $5,329.00 left a net equity of $5,926.31. He also reported that the current membership is at 302, of which 57 are electronic.

The confirmed General Meeting topics for the remaining months in 2006 are: for September 5, City of Danbury Technology Update by Wade Anderson; for October 3, Mozilla’s Firefox and Extensions by Jim Scheef; for November 7, How the Patriot Act has affected Public Libraries; for December 5, The Future of the Internet by John Patrick.

Some ideas for future general meetings include Microsoft’s Vista, Apple’s Leopard, and the FBI. Jeff is going to talk to Scott Ward from Stony Hill Golf about doing a presentation on the computerized fitting systems. Howie Berger brought up the idea of partnering with the Chamber of Commerce and having a joint technology meeting.

Jamie reported that he contacted Tweeter’s about a presentation on HDTV, which they declined. Jeff suggested contacting Sounds Incredible or Carston Stereo.
Howie suggested that we may be able to share speakers with the UCONN School of Business .NET User Group.

After more than 10 years of dedicated service, Bruce Preston has submitted his resignation from the Board due to health reasons. Bruce has generously shared his knowledge in resolving a wide range of computer problems for members over the years, and will be greatly missed.

Sean Henderson has requested a leave of absence from the Board due to scheduling conflicts until October.

Jeff Setaro mentioned that he has been approached by a few members who were interested in taking over as Editor the DACS newsletter.
