Windows Vista and MS Office

Windows Vista and MS Office 2007 have recently become available to the general public. As a matter of fact, if you buy a new computer chances are 100% that by the time you read this it will come with a version of Vista pre-installed. Do you want to know more about these new products? If the answer is yes, come to our April General Meeting and hear all about it from Jay Ferron.

Vista has created a stir in the industry with its new Aero graphic interface, upgraded hardware requirements and major internal changes to improve security, among other enhancements. Learn about the new features and new versions, migration tools and integrated backup capability. Gain an understanding of what it can do for you and if you should install it on your current hardware now or in the future. Or perhaps just wait until it comes pre-installed on a new computer purchase.

Microsoft Office 2007 also has a number of new features about which you may want to know, including its new ribbon interface which replaces the menus you are used to.

If you have been reading about these products, you will find there are many divergent opinions as to whether Vista and Office provide enough benefits or if their annoyances should keep you on your current software. Although everyone will ultimately have to upgrade, is waiting the more prudent decision?

The press has been working overtime both praising and damning it. Since you can’t avoid it, you might as well learn as much as you can about it.

Our speaker for the night will be Jay Ferron, a current member of the Board of Directors of APCUG (Association of Personal Computer User Groups). He also has the following certifications: ADSP, CCDA, CCNA, CISM, CISSP, MCP, MCDBA. MCSE, MCT, NSA – IAM, RWMT, TCI.
