Program Preview:
Mobile iAnywhere Technology

For our October feature presentation, DACS is pleased to welcome Raymond Yost of Sybase iAnywhere. Mr. Yost is the Principal Systems Consultant, Frontline Solutions. Sybase is one of the largest global services companies which are poised to keep businesses connected with their information anytime, anywhere, and on any device.

Mr. Yost will explain how today's unwired enterprise stays connected and how the Information Anywhere Suite provides the key components for email, collaboration, application enablement, secured proprietary data access, and asset security. We'll be getting a sneak peek into what is expected from wireless portable delivery in the future, and how Sybase iAnywhere Mobile Solutions are being expanded to define the next generation mobility architecture.

Over the past several years, the ability to connect portable devices to corporate resources over various networks has become much easier. We are almost at the point where it is 'assumed' a phone is connected to email, the Internet, contacts, weather, and other information sources almost out of the box. Even instant messaging is now an expectation on these devices.

The immediate benefit is that account managers can visit clients across town without dragging a laptop with them. Doctors can roam around the medical campus with a PDA instead of clipboard and files. A warehouse manager can add new stock from a coffee house using merely a phone.

And, while all that is occurring, administrators and application developers can keep track of devices, secure the data, and selectively enable services for users or groups. New PDAs, phones, and other portable solutions appear on the market so fast it can make management and delivery daunting.

DACS meetings are held at the Danbury Hospital auditorium. (Click here for directions.) Activities begin at 6:30 p.m. with registration and casual networking. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. with a general question and answer period (Ask DACS), announcements and a short break. The featured evening presentation begins at 8:00.

As a reminder, our General Meetings are free and open to the public so invite anyone you know who would be interested in this topic.
