DACS Team Judge at Science Fair

by Charles Bovaird

Fourteen current and former DACS members were volunteer judges at the 25th annual Science Horizons Fair held at New Milford High School on Saturday, March 7, 2009. This is the fifth year DACS members supported this event providing 10% of the 140 judges.

About 700 students demonstrated 525 science projects in an effort to win awards and scholarships using the scientific method. Junior and Senior high school students from the Danbury area presented projects on biology and physics hoping to earn a place in the state and national fairs held at Quinnipiac University and Reno, NV. There were 141 student finalists. Science Horizons has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships since its inception 25 years ago.

Student participation in science fairs has tremendous value in support of life-long earning power as well as excellent preparation for advanced learning. DACS is looking forward to next year’s science fair.
