President's Message 3.01
March 2009
Rob Limbaugh - President

It is an honor and privilege to serve another term as DACS President. The ride has been a very illuminating learning experience so far. For the past several months some of those efforts have been able to grow into new endeavors taking root within DACS and the community it serves.

As was said in December 2008, the coming year has to be “for and about the members”. What does this mean? Well, for starters, we’re working on expanding the portfolio of sponsors. This translates into discounts on merchandise and services for members. The information necessary to take advantage of these discounts will be posted in the DACS membership forums on our website. The goal here is for a DACS membership to “pay for itself”.

We’d also like to have more membership related activities and endeavors. Our monthly General Meeting is a “public” one that is not always a suitable forum for being more one-on-one with our members. Some ideas that have been suggested include: golf outing, a group trip, dinner or picnic, etc.

As a reminder, this organization’s operations are handled by the volunteer efforts of a handful of people. DACS would not exist without the members or the efforts of those volunteers. Contact DACS Board to get involved.

Good news everyone… we’re going to reschedule the Windows Home Server presentation for later this year! Stay tuned for more information!

Next month’s General Meeting will be spectacular! In addition to learning how ready Linux is for prime time, Sandra Rankin will give us an overview of the GDNRC (Greater Danbury Non-Profit Resource Center). We also have some great door prizes—among them will be a copy of Lesa Snider King’s book “Photoshop CS4: The Missing Manual”.

See you there!
