Board of Directors Minutes
May 12, 2009

A regular meeting of your Board of Directors was held at the Resource Center on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. Present were Charles Bovaird, Richard Corzo, Sean Henderson, John Lansdale, Patrick Libert, Rob Limbaugh, Joseph Tobin, Annette van Ommeren, Jeff Setaro, Jim Scheef
Minutes of the last meeting held April 14, 2009, were presented and approved.

Treasurer Charles Bovaird reported current cash assets of $6090.78, consisting of total bank plus postage on hand of $127.33. Total assets $6218.11.

Subtracting a liability of prepaid dues in the amount of $411.00 left a net equity of $5807.11.
He also reported that the current membership is at 209, 92 of which receive the mailed Dacs.doc newsletter.

Asset request by Richard: Does DACS need to get a Vista machine – for the Ask DACS segment of the meeting? Right now we use the podium machine and can’t show anything useful with its system. Could we use another machine to better answer questions? Jim will experiment with VM on his machine. Explore alternatives to the hospital machine. Need to be able to show vista. Rob may have a rebuildable machine. We discussed about what’s best to use at Ask DACS.

General meetings – discussion about who writes the preview and review. Nothing decided.

Jim asked about meeting topic Medical Health Records, that subject is tentatively set for the September meeting on Medical Technology – Allan Ostergren has lined up the presenter. But, it falls on Labor Day and the discussion followed about moving the meeting to the second Monday or Tuesday since it is questionable whether people would show up on Labor Day. Rob will check with the hospital about the schedule. To be discussed later.
Richard would like Backing Up to be a topic for a meeting. Jeff will ask Gene Barlow to make a presentation on this topic. The August General Meeting will have something relating to ‘back to school’.

It’s time to contact John Patrick for his annual December presentation, Sean will contact him. We will ask if he has some other project he’d like to talk about instead of his usual subject.

CT Film Interactive Festival (Whole Festival is June 2-7, Interactive held at arena, June 4-6 (Thurs..-Sat.) from 11am-8pm), http://www.ctfilmfest.com
Regarding the Wireless connection, Jim will try to contact Dave Bonan about better wireless connections with more power.
Dates: Thursday, June 4 - Saturday, June 6, 11am-7:30pm.
DACS will have a 10’ x 10’ space at the ice arena, and get two 6’ tables. Participants so far are:
Richard Corzo (table), Rob Limbaugh (table), Charles Bovaird (table), Sean Henderson (table), Joseph Tobin (table), Jim Scheef (table), Lesa Snider King (workshop leader), Ken Graff (workshop leader), George Krampetz, any one day all day (table). Table volunteers get access to all activities of the Film Festival.
It was suggested for Charlie to send out an email to the members to ask for volunteers.

We debated about possible purchasing a USB key with the DACS logo as a hand out (what size and amount to get). Possibly give to Festival visitors when joining DACS? It was decided not to buy due to cost.

Regarding brochures, definitely need to get those, looked at the prices Charlie provided from Allegra. Annette offered to help Patrick with the layout of the trifold brochure.

Do need to order polo shirts with the logo, to be used by the table volunteers. Jim will send out a link to company that does them. Need to look at prices. Decision to be made later.
