General Meetings

The following persons have volunteered to write previews and/or reviews:

  • Program Previews: July (Sean), Aug (Rob), Sep (cancelled).
  • Program Reviews: June (Patrick), July (Patrick), Aug (open), Sept (cancelled)

The remaining 2009 meeting topics are: July – Photoshop Tips and Tricks (Lesa Snider King), Aug – Back to School/saving money on tech (DACS presenters), Sep – cancelled due to Labor Day conflict, October – Over clocking (Pete Basel), Nov - Medical Technology (coordinated through Allan), DEC - John Patrick.

There was a discussion of posting general meetings videos or portions of them to (YouTube) and whether or not this should be available to the public versus kept private. Rob has about one year of meetings already digitalized. No decision was made.

Paid advertisements were dropped from newsletter since the Ad rates do not cover the cost of the advertising space in the newsletter.

CT Film Festival Interactive

All agreed it was a success. We estimated that about 50 people came by the booth.

The process of setting up for this event has led to the availability of booth materials, a suggested ‘booth kit’ for future public events. We now have an excellent flyer, Posters.

There have been requests for a video production and game development SIG from multiple people (about 3-4 each). We made contact with the Danbury Inventors group, and the author of Blender for Dummies is was willing to come up from NC for a future General Meeting presentation.

Corporate Casuals, from whom we ordered custom decorated polo shirts for the Film Festival staff, has made their digital stitch files of the DACS logo available. They can be downloaded and used by another vendor for embroidery purposes.

Resource Center availability for member

All DACS members have access to use the Resource Center - SIG leaders, officers and members. Cost associated is wear and tear on projector (ex. Bulb replacement). The discussion was as to whether or not we would allow members to host non-DACS related meetings in the RC. This could lead to liability exposure to DACS and should be decided on an individual basis. The motion was made and approved that Jim Scheef can use the RC for a meeting of his other club and he should enter the meeting date on the DACS calendar.

- Mary Tobin, Secretary
