Next General Meeting:
Making a YouTube Video
Date:Tuesday, June 1, 2010
Location: Danbury Hospital Auditorium,
24 Hospital Ave, Danbury, doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Preview by Scott Preston and Andrew MacGinitie

Three former employees of PayPal, Inc. founded YouTube in 2005. A year later, Google purchased YouTube and has been running the site since the acquisition.

The purpose of the site is to share user-generated content, including video blogging and short original videos. Throughout YouTube you can also find music videos, movie clips, and TV clips that are posted by media companies which have partnered with YouTube (including CBS, ABC, NBC, ESPN, Reuters, and The Associated Press, just to name a few).

The primary focus of Scott’s presentation will be just what the title suggests: making a YouTube video. However, Scott will also present background information about the YouTube website and its features, as well as the various controls for editing your videos after you have posted them.

The presentation will lightly touch on the video editors that come pre-installed on either a PC (Windows Movie Maker) or a Mac (iMovie), and show how to convert a completed video project into a format that is accepted by YouTube. Scott will demonstrate the uploading tool, choosing appropriate categories and “tags,” as well as additional post-upload tools such as Annotations. Video privacy settings will also be discussed.

This meeting is a must see for anyone who has been contemplating posting a video on YouTube, or who just wants to know how it’s done. As always, bring your questions!
