Meeting Preview - Jobs and Technology—John Barry

Location: Danbury Hospital Auditorium
24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT, doors open at 6:30 p.m.

By Richard Corzo

It’s a tough environment out there. Many are looking for work and having to look further afield to find work—out of our comfort zone in job descriptions and a distance away from where we’d normally look. A number of us in DACS are in the technology field, or would like to use technology to help find a job. So it’s timely for DACS to have a presentation on this subject.

John Barry of ITech Consulting Partners (http://www.itechcp.com/) and also a DACS member will be our guest speaker at the January general meeting. John has years of experience placing candidates in a wide range of positions at companies in the area.
John will cover today’s employment market and recent positions that have come up. You might be curious about new places to look and John will talk about niche jobs that you might have overlooked. He’ll tell us about new media jobs that we should know about. If you’re looking to upgrade your skills, John can suggest what might be worth your time and money.

Whether we are looking for a job in technology or  in some other field, John can show us how to use technology to find a job. What resources are out there? How should we use recruiters? Why is networking important? How should we leverage LinkedIn?

Although John doesn’t plan to cover them during the main presentation, you’ll have an opportunity during his question and answer session afterward to ask about résumés and interview tips.

So come to our January general meeting and find out the answers to your employment questions and get thinking about new strategies.
