Old Business

  • General meetings
      • December 6: Andy Woodruff and Sean Henderson—Recording and Editing Live Music, Preview: Drew Kwashnak, Review: Bruce Preston.
      • January 3: Drew Kwashnak, Richard Corzo, and Jim Scheef—Performing tasks in Windows, Mac, and Linux—3 way comparison. Preview: Bruce Preston, Review: Lisa Liefels.  Presenters will hold a Skype meeting to go over program contents on 12/16.
      • Possible future topics:
        • Andy contacted Google and they are willing to provide a speaker. We asked them for someone to speak on Google Apps (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sites, and Google Docs) and Google Voice.
        • Andy would like a Windows presentation of how-tos for tuning the O/S—Safe Mode, MSCONFIG, turning off unneeded services, Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper (Beta), etc. We could also call it “How to be an administrator of your machine.” Contacted Rob Limbaugh who said he is willing for February or March.
        • Smart Computing – “Presentation in a box” – Patrick will investigate
        • Music Services – Pandora, Spotify, iTunes Match, Amazon Cloud Player,…
        • John Patrick (May 2012)
        • Apple – Lion OS, (Dave Marra?)
        • Artificial Intelligence – from Alan Turing to Eliza to Watson
        • Ultrabooks, Tablets, etc.
  • Open positions

The membership chairperson/greeter position is still open.

  • David presented an update on 2011 income report and 2012 budget. Since membership is slowly declining, we need to know when our outlays will start exceeding our income.
  • Charlie Bovaird submitted a multi-year report on membership trends, attendance and newsletter distribution.
  • How might we leverage Facebook to draw more membership interest?
  • How might we make use of meetup.com to draw more membership interest?  Elizabeth will look into what establishing a group would be entail – setting up, costs, etc.
  • We plan to have a display at the Bethel library in January. (Andy Woodruff, Drew and Shawna Kwashnak)
  • We will ask Marc Cohen to take photos at General Meetings and submit to Drew for posting on the Facebook account.
  • We have notified Jay Ferron that we have relocated the DACS web site from his server to Bluehost.
  • We renewed our APCUG membership. We need to update our listing in their records.  Patrick will review their current records and update.

New Business

  • I am waiting to hear back from Lisa Aurigemma at Danbury Hospital whether we can return to have our meetings at the hospital auditorium in 2012. If we can’t start again in January, we’ll need to reserve Broadview Middle School auditorium or make other arrangements.

Adjourned at 8:45
